“Mitochondrial age” needs more than a score
Marketing language can blur wellness and diagnosis. Before acting, ask whether the assay and the claimed interpretation were independently validated.

Hyman has said publicly that he personally uses the IGL lab. On his Health Bites episode “Prevent Cancer with These Essential Diet and Lifestyle Changes,” he called it “a lab in Germany called IGL that does deep toxin testing and mitochondrial testing and looks for DNA damage,” adding that it should be ordered through “a physician who understands that, a functional medicine doctor.”
On The Doctor’s Farmacy with Dr. Elroy Vojdani, he described IGL’s mitochondrial assessment as one of the “functional medicine diagnostics that are not used in traditional medicine, but they’re real.” This is a personal-use endorsement, not scientific validation of IGL’s assays.
